PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrafar- to far-infrared absorber which is an absorber which exhibits an excellent absorption for ultrafar- to far-infrared rays as well as infrared rays, can be easily incorporated in a resin, and is minimized in deterioration of the light transmitting properties of a resin. SOLUTION: There is provided an ultrafar- to far-infrared absorber comprising a complex metal hydroxide carbonate and having at least one absorption at a wave number of 70 to 400 cm<-1> , wherein the composite metal hydroxide carbonate used is an Na, K, or NH3 -form dawsonite, a lithium aluminum complex hydroxide salt, or a hydrotalcite type synthetic composite metal hydroxide carbonate each having a volume-based median diameter of 0.1-3μm and a refractive index of 1.45-1.65.
