摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the service life of a support member of an electrode by providing a groove to be opened in a bath at a boundary surface in an abutting surface of the electrode and in a support surface of at least one support member to reduce the contact electric loss at the boundary surface. SOLUTION: A groove 7 is formed in a support surface 6B of a support member 2 of an electrode. Even when the electrode is abutted on the support surface 6B, the groove 7 is not sealed, but opened in a plating bath even in operation. The width and the density of the groove 7 are preferably set so that the total area of the groove 7 is no >=30% that of the supporting surface 6B, and generally, in the case of the rectangular supporting surface 6B of 200 cm×50 cm in dimensions, the grooves 7 of 0.5 mm in width the provided at intervals of 3 cm, and the direction of the grooves 7 preferably forms an acute angleαrelative to the short side of the rectangular supporting surface 6B. Even when the high density current flows, heating at the boundary plane and generation of gas are greatly limited, no cracks are generated in a supporting material and a contact material of the electrode, and a graphite material excellent in wear resistance can be used.
