PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject cosmetic having a high strength, good shape retainability and good impact resistance and giving an excellent touch by compounding the powder of a specific thermoplastic resin powder arid a powdery material for the cosmetic and subsequently fusing the resin powder. SOLUTION: This solid powder cosmetic is obtained by compressing and molding a composition comprising (A) 5-80 wt.% of thermoplastic resin (for example, polystyrene) powder having an average particle diameter of 0.01-30μm and (B) a powdery material (for example, talc) for the cosmetic preferably in an amount of <=95 wt.%, and subsequently thermally treating the molded product preferably at a 50-25 deg.C for 1-720 min to melt and fuse the thermoplastic resin powder to the powder for the cosmetic. The cosmetic may, if necessary, further be compounded with (C) an oily component (for example, petrolatum) in an amount of <=90 wt.%.
