PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition having high speed responsibility, not causing the coagulation of particles, or the like, and useful as a material for optical elements by including regions containing a stimulation-responsible polymer gel and a liquid and a separation member for covering the regions. SOLUTION: This polymer get composition comprises (A) regions containing (i) a polymer gel (preferably an electrolytic polymer gel) capable of absorbing or releasing a liquid to change the volume by the impartment of stimulation and (ii) the liquid and (B) a separating member for covering the component A (preferably a matrix or microcapsule membranes). The composition can be obtained by dispersing the swelling mixture of the components (i) and (ii) in the liquid solution of a matrix material not dissolving the swelling mixture and subsequently solidifying the matrix material. The impartment of the stimulation preferably comprises the change of pH, the change of an ion concentration, the adsorption or desorption of a chemical substance, or the like. The component (i) preferably comprises particles having an average particle diameter of 0.01μm to 5 mm in a dry state. |
