PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent separation of emulsions even when stored in a long period of time and retard generation of gel-like materials by adding a water-soluble aluminum salt with a water-in-oil type emulsion polymer obtained by emulsion polymerizing a monomer selected from acrylamide, methacrylamide and cation group-containing vinyl compounds. SOLUTION: A stabilized emulsion polymer is obtained by adding 3-25 pts.wt. of a water-soluble aluminum salt with 100 pts.wt. of a water-in-oil type emulsion polymer obtained by emulsion polymerizing one or more monomers selected from acrylamide, methacrylamide and cation group-containing vinyl compounds of the formula such as dimethylacrylic acid ethyl ammonium chloride. The water-soluble aluminum salt includes aluminum sulfate, aluminum chloride, aluminum nitrate, alum and the like. In the formula, R<1> is H or methyl; R<2> to R<4> are each methyl or ethyl; R<5> is an ethylene linkage or a propylene linkage; Z is O or NH; and X is Cl or SO4 . |
