PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sense the operating condition of a turnout from a maintenance vehicle in the advancing direction without supplying power to ground equipment and stop the maintenance vehicle certainly when the turnout is in off condition. SOLUTION: A ground piece 13 to emit a code signal differing according to the switching condition of a branch device 3 is buried in the line in front of the turnout 3. A maintenance vehicle 8 is equipped with an on-board piece 31 to supply power to the ground piece 13 and sense the switching condition of the ground piece 13. The on-board piece 31 puts on and off the carrier and transmits signals to the ground piece 13. The ground piece 13 controls the reverberation when the carrier is put off, turns the switching condition into code, and transmits the obtained signal to the on-board piece 31. If the off condition of the turnout 3 is sensed, the maintenance vehicle 8 is put in emergency stop. Thereby the safety is ensured.
