PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject catalyst giving an ethylenic polymer, comprising a solid catalyst carrying a reaction product from a chromium compound with an organic metal compound, and a transition metal compound with an organic aluminum compound on a carrier, and having high molecular weight and large melt tension and suitable for an inflation film generating slight fish eye. SOLUTION: This catalyst is obtained by adding (B) a reaction product of a chromium compound (e.g. chromium carboxylate) with an organic metal compound (e.g. methyl lithium), (C) a solid catalyst carrying a reaction product of a transition metal compound e.g. bis(cyclopentadienyl)zirconium dichloride} including a group having a conjugateπ-electron as a ligand with an organic aluminum compound (e.g. aluminoxane), and preferably further (D) an organic metal compound, (E) a transition metal compound including a group having a conjugateπ-electron as a ligand on (A) a carrier (e.g. magnesia or titania).
