PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject safe composition capable of forming a coating film excellent in appearance, weather and chipping resistances, or the like, and useful as a coating material, or the like, for automobiles by compounding an epoxy-containing vinylic polymer with a specific polyester resin, a specified curing agent and an epoxy resin. SOLUTION: This composition contains (A) an epoxy-containing vinylic polymer (e.g. the one having 80-150 deg.C softening point and 250-700 epoxy equiv.), (B) a carboxyl-containing polyester resin (e.g. the one having 80-150 deg.C softening point and 10-200 mgKOH/g solid content acid value), (C) aβ-hydroxyalkylamide curing agent e.g. a compound represented by the formula [R<1> is H or a 1-2C alkyl; R<2> is H, a 1-5C alkyl or a group represented by the formula HOCH(R<1> ) CH2 ; A is a bivalent hydrocarbon group]} and (D) an epoxy resin (e.g. a hydrogenated bisphenol A type or an alicyclic type).
