PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet head capable of ejecting more stable ink drops. SOLUTION: A nozzle plate 15 is provided to face an ink supplying passage 16 formed in an ink jet head. The nozzle plate 15 comprises a plurality of orifices 17 and a plurality of ink ejection nozzles 19 each communicating with the respective orifice 17 to be opened in the outside. A thin film of the ink to be ejected having a thickness range of 0.1-1.5μm is formed on a surface of the nozzle plate 15 at the surrounding portions of the ejection nozzles 19. In order to form the ink, recess sections each having the same depth as that of the thin film are provided and a layer made of a material having an ink repellency is formed on the surface of the nozzle plate at the portion except the recess section.
