PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject compound in a high yield without using an organic solvent by reacting an aldehyde compound with a tetraallyl tin in the presence of a surfactant and a rare earth element Lewis acid catalyst in an aqueous solvent. SOLUTION: This method for producing a monoallylalcohol of the formula comprises reacting an aldehyde compound of the formula: R<1> -CHO [R<1> is a (substituted) hydrocarbon group or a heterocyclic group] with a tetraallyl tin in the presence of a surfactant (for example, sodium dodecyl sulfate in an amount of about 0.01-0.8 equivalent, more suitably about 0.1-0.5 equivalent, based on the aldehyde compound) and a rare earth element Lewis acid catalyst [for example, scandium triflate of the formula: Sc(OTf)3 in an amount of about 0.001-1.0 equivalent, more suitably about 0.01-0.5 equivalent, based on the aldehyde compound. |
