PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxygen scavenger compsn. which is used for preserving cultural assets composed of org. materials (i.e., materials which require an atmosphere of an intermediate humidity to be kept) in an atmosphere of an intermediate humidity, a low oxygen concn., and a low formaldehyde concn. SOLUTION: This oxygen scavenger compsn. comprises (A) an org. oxygen absorber which does not absorb or release water and comprises a main oxidizable agent supported by a porous silicate having an average micropore size of 200-5,000Åand (B) a formaldehyde absorber which does not absorb or release water and comprises at least one amine, thiol, or sulfonic acid supported by a support.
