PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of fixed parts by folding all collectors via separators, except for the collectors at both the ends, along the inner side face of a gasket, and fixing the collectors to the gasket in an insulating manner with the separators in-between. SOLUTION: Collectors 1 at both ends are fixed to a gasket 3a. Separators 2a, 2b and all collectors 1c, except for the collectors 1 at both ends, are folded along the inner side face of the gasket 3a, and the collectors 1c are fixed to the inside of the gasket 3a with the separator 2a in-between in an insulating manner. Activated carbon electrodes 4a of the respective basic cells are filled with the same quantity of activate carbon as for the uppermost cell which has the smallest diameter. The outside diameter of the separator 2a is larger than the diameter of all the collectors 1c, except for the collectors 1 at both the ends. The basic cells ensure insulation through the separators 2a, 2b. As a result, the size of fixed areas is reduced for making the electric double layer capacitor compact in the radial direction, and further the assembly of the electric double layer capacitor is simplified. |
