PRODUCTION OF N-SILYLIMINES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and highly general-purpose method for producing N-silylimines useful as a synthetic intermediate for medicines. SOLUTION: Nitriles represented by the general formula; R-C≡N (R denotes an alkyl group, an aromatic group or an alkoxy group) are reacted with hydrosilanes represented by the general formula; H-SiR<1> R<2> R<3> (R<1> , R<2> and R<3> denote each independently an alkyl group, an aromatic group or an alkoxy group) in the presence of a group 8 or a group 9 transition metal catalyst to produce N-silylimines represented by the general formula; RHC=N-SiR<1> R<2> R<3> .
