PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic mud-covered onion coats and unnecessary leaves removing machine that can automatically remove the mud-stained coats at the white root parts and unnecessary leaves and dead leaves regardless of entangling at the white root parts of Welsh onions, retain the proper conveying posture of the onions throughout the whole conveying steps, permits smooth delivery of the onions to the next step and can blow off a compressed medium to the needed parts to effectively remove foreign matters. SOLUTION: Welsh onions 8 charged in the machine by the charging conveyer 2 are conveyed in the state that they are put in order by the white root parts and leaf parts- arranging mechanism 3 or in the state that the entangling parts 64 are removed from the onions by means of the root-cutting mechanism 60 or the rotary combing mechanism 62. The leaf parts 10 are nipped with the leaf-nipping conveyer 4 having the nipping plane at the same level as that of the charging conveyer 2 and the mud-covered outer coats on the white root parts 9 are blown off by the compressed medium blower 5 according to the length of the white root part 9. The treated Welsh onions 8 are held via the delivery mechanism 6 and smoothly delivered to the next step of onion-holding and blowing mechanism 7 where the compressed medium is blown from the blowing mechanism 15 to proper parts to removes unnecessary leaves and the root leaves. |
