FIELD: paint and varnish industry. SUBSTANCE: method comprises mixing varnished colloxylin at elevated temperature and solvent, and subsequently adding plasticizer, diluent and additives. Varnished colloxylin is prepared by previously mixing highly viscous cellulose nitrate with solvent in the presence of catalyst. Varnished composition is prepared in one apparatus at 60-70 C under atmospheric pressure. Method makes it possible to use cellulose nitrates of any grades including pyroxylin powders without removing diphenyl amine from composition thereof.
