The washing unit for tins of food (52) comprises an enclosure (T) into which each tin is led through an opening (40). The tins are gravity led along a guide track (C,56,58) on which they roll. A fixed stop (100,102) engages the tin upper part and temporarily stops the tins. A spraying gallery (104) has a series of orifices which spray the different surfaces (52,54) of the tin. The washed tins are discharged through an emptying opening (42).
