The plate has a corrugated or grooved profile and is stacked with other plates to provide alternate passages for a working fluid and a refrigerant fluid. A number of tubes (4) may be inserted in the plate to carry the working fluid or the refrigerant. These tubes may have differing cross-section. An electric heating element (3) may be embedded in the plate.
