The household appliance has a number of operating and display elements in order to adjust and to display parameters and working operations comprised of a number of steps. It is possible to program the microprocessor contained in the control device without additional technical auxiliary means such that the operating elements are actuated in a given actuation sequence in order to engage a programming access to the microprocessor. The microprocessor is subsequently programmed by actuating one or a number of operating elements in a manner which is given according to parameter or working step.
