The control grid voltage generation circuit has a HV source (Vcc), a LV source (Vbb) and an amplifier (1) connected between them, providing a control grid voltage (G1) dependent on a received input signal (Va). The amplifier is discharged via the low-ohmic path between the HV source and earth on switching off the cathode ray tube, for dropping the control grid voltage to the LV level.
