Fertilizer production comprises adding rock dust and/or clay minerals and magnesium carbonate and/or magnesium bicarbonate with a particle size below 90 mu m to undigested organic waste with a particle size of 0-10 mm, especially farmyard slurry or human feces and urine, to give a mixture with a solids content of 30-60 wt.%, and composting the mixture in aerated heaps by a method comprising a first aerobic phase, a fungus growing phase and an aerobic bacterial stabilization phase.
