A lamp assembly comprising a lamp section (2) and a housing section (3); the lamp section (2) being separable from the housing section (3), and including means (1, 4) to effect separation of the lamp section (2) from the housing section (3), said means (1, 4) being effective to permit separation only when the housing section (3) has been removed from a lampholder. The means (1) to effect separation, also prevents the housing section (3) from being fitted to the lampholder unless the lamp section (2) is fitted to the housing section (3). A tool (1) is used to split the lamp (2) from the housing (3) section. The tool (1) incorporates a safety feature, in that the design of the tool (1) means that the lamp section (2) and housing section (3), must be removed completely from the lampholder before the tool (1) can be used. |
