To lock together two coaxial and sliding cylinders, at least one swing clamping body (5) is between the clamp (4) and the support tube (2) or carrier (3) bonded to the support tube (2). The dia. of the clamp (4) at the clamping body (5) is varied by the axial movement of a working unit (6) which bears on the clamp (4) to bear against the inner tube (1) for the damper piston. It acts with the holding system and the wheel suspension which moves in a number of positions, to give a variable spring action. Each clamping body (5) is at a shaped groove (7) in the clamp (4) on one side, and in a laying groove (8) at the carrier (3) on the other side. The clamp (4) has longitudinal slits, and a clamping nipper body. The switch unit (9) has an arbitrarily heated thermo bimetal (11) or memory-retention metal.
