The toothpaste container, particularly a tube, the container, or its package, is combined with a toothbrush head. The useful life of the brush head is designed to match the usual time taken to consume the contents of the tube, so that emptying of the tube provides an indication that the head has worn out. The head is designed to fix to toothbrushes that accept disposable heads. Preferred container: Particularly the container holds about 150 ml paste and the brush includes sodium fluoride at 20000 ppm and/or an antimicrobial, particularly chlorhexidine, at 5000-10000 ppm. Alternatively, where the paste is of the whitening type, the tube contains about 50 ml, sufficient for about 2 months. The toothbrush head is provided with a protective cover, at least a region of which is transparent, and this cover is attached to the tube.
