The car headlamp has a lamp with two filaments (10a,10b) that work together with a single reflector (20) to form a dipped and a non-dipped light beam plus a cover disc. The lamp has two filaments parallel to the lamp axis. The lamp comprises an imaging trough (30) which is assigned to the first filament and is remote from the filament in a direction transverse to the lamp axis. The lamp is mounted in the reflector with its axis vertical to the optical axis of the reflector, and is located so that the imaging trough represents a cover for the direct light emerging from the first filament.
