ACTIVATED CARBON FOR ADSORPTION AND STORAGE OF GASEOUS COMPOUND

An activated carbon which can efficiently adsorb and safely and stably store considerable amounts of a specified gaseous compound and can safely and efficiently deliver the adsorbed gas while suppressing the release of the gas in the air. The activated carbon is utilized in such a manner that a predetermined amount of a hydride or halide gas is brought into contact with an activated carbon prepared from a phenolic resin as a main starting compound to adsorb and store the gas therein in a storage environment under the subatmospheric pressure, and at least a part of the adsorbed gas is desorbed and delivered to a work environment. The activated carbon is utilized through a series of steps comprising bringing the compound gas into contact with the activated carbon in a hermetically sealed space to adsorb the gas onto the activated carbon, accelerating the reaction of the system subjected to the adsorption; and delivering the gas subjected to the acceleration from the sealed space.
