A key device for playing a role of a key for locking/unlocking doors indispensable for daily life and for starting/stopping various systems. Conventional keys made of metals or magnetic substances must be always carried and the possibility of loss exists. Breakage of the keys and wear with time also occur, and convenience is not high. Since duplication is easy, safety is low. Keys of a code number input system involves the possibility of leak of the code number and security is not high. In this invention, specific characters, symbols or figures are set in advance as a cipher in the key device. When this cipher is inputted by fingers through an input device, the cipher is converted to a numeric value and is compared with, and discriminated from, data that has been set already so as to lock/unlock the doors, to start/stop the systems and to play the function of the key. Since the cipher is directly inputted by hand, the necessity for carrying is eliminated, duplication is not possible, and breakage and wear do not occur. Further, because the device is controlled extremely strictly, leak of the cipher does not occur, and safety as well as privacy can be secured.
