EXCREMENT COLLECTING DEVICE

A disposable rigid device (50) for collecting animal excrement (58) from a level surface is disclosed. The device comprises hingedly attached jaw members in movable opposed relationship, and is capable of being held in an open position and a closed position. Each of the jaw members has a lower edge, at least one of the edges being folded to form a ledge onto which the excrement is collected. The bottom surface of the folded lower edge is in facing relation to the level surface when the device is in the closed position. The device is ideal for municipalities that require their citizens to curb their pet dogs. Also described is a method for collecting animal excrement from a level surface using the device of the invention.
