The solar collector can warm liquid and/or air. The sun's rays are focused two-dimensionally on the surface of the absorber (2) by means of rod-form collecting lenses (4). The absorber may contain a liquid and may warm the air flowing past it, while the liquid in the absorber remains still; or the liquid may be warmed while the air layer remains still. The rod lens may be formed by a transparent heat-carrying liquid with optical breaking index of less than one flowing through a transparent plastic or glass tube.
