Piston ring combination for use in internal combustion engines

The piston ring combination consists of at least one first sealing ring (2) with a first ion-plated layer (2A) and at least one lubricating ring (4) with a second ion-plated layer (4A). The layers (2A, 4A) are formed of cromium-nickel mixtures. The first (2A) has a porous structure, with porosity within the range 3-10 %, while the second (4A) has dense structure with porosity between 0 and 3 %.
