A blank universal thread for pipes and bodies with a curved surface has a spreading bush (1) held on both sides by a nut (3) allowing for a close fit. The spreading bush collar (2) is bent to match the inner shape of the pipe or body. On the outside, the form ring and seal (7) compensate for any mismatch, allowing the nut to effect a strong and leak-proof fit. The diameter of the blind thread should be roughly one half or less that of the pipe diameter.
