The method involves measuring the change in the capacity of the batteries as a function of time. When a selectable critical reference value is exceeded for the battery supplying the load the supply is changed over to another, i.e. the one with the maximum capacity compared to the remaining batteries. The disconnected battery is not made available again until its self recovery effect is complete.
