The method concerns joining of two workpieces which are brought by means of a feed unit (F) to clamping tables (10), and are joined there by means of a weld seam. The workpieces are positioned in the feed unit which is driven between the clamping tables and deposits the workpieces. At the same time, the joined workpieces of the previous work cycle are pushed out. Also claimed is an appts. serving for implementation of the method. The appts. is novel in that the feed unit (F) incorporates clamping jaws (7) with a slit (8) serving for fastening the workpieces.
