Decanter for single batch process waste water treatment plant

A single batch reactor (SBR) has a float (8) supported decanter at the water surface (3) used in an intermittent waste water process with a subsurface inlet to a movable decanter pipe (1). The decanter pipe has an inlet (2) projecting above the water surface, protected by an inverted cap (4) which is rigidly fixed to the pipe and encloses an air cushion (6). The cap lower rim (7) is always below the water surface. The float is fixed to the cap outer wall. The cap upper wall has a tube (10) linking the air cushion with the ambient air. The upper end of the tube may be protected by a cap (11) from which it is separated by spacers (12).
