A pipe (1) and connecting drain (2) are joined together via flange structures (3, 4) comprising a fixed flange (5,6) permanently secured to the pipe or drain, and a detachable flange (7, 8) releasably secured to the fixed flange by a screw (9). An elastic sealing strip (10) is held in place inside the joint region by the flange constructions.
