The invention relates to a height-adjustable vertebral implant, comprising a first essentially U-shaped cage (1) which has recesses or holes (2) and vertebral support surfaces (3) which are configured on said cage (1). The first cage (1) is encompassed by a second, outer U-shaped cage (8) and is guided telescopically in relation thereto, the limbs (10) of the inner (1) and outer (8) cages being configured in such a way as to produce a continuous side opening. One front face of each cage (1, 8) has bent upper and lower, tongue-like vertebral support surfaces (3) and teeth-like locking projections (4) which extend in a longitudinal direction. The inner cage (1) and outer cage (8) can be fixed in relation to each other in an end position.
