The magnetic disc (12) is enclosed within a sleeve (10) that protects against dust and dirt. The disc is subjected to a variation in forces due to the head aperture in the cassette and this can cause oscillations. This is prevented by the geometry and sizing of the sleeve. The disc is positioned such that the air pressure difference due to rotation is such that a force in the disc clamping direction is applied
