The connector has contact clamps for connecting electrical conductors to a rectangular frame of strip material, clamp bolt and movable contact bridge. The connector has at least one contact clamp (10) for connecting electrical conductors (30) to a frame of rectangular cross-section made of strip material. A clamp bolt (18) engages one narrow end (16) of the frame formed by overlapping strip ends to press a conductor in the frame against the opposite end (17). A contact bridge (24) slides within the frame to contact the end of the clamp bolt within the frame and press at least one conductor inserted into the frame against the end of the frame furthest from the clamp bolt.
