Card data authentication system

To provide a card data authentication system whereby any of a plurality of data terminal devices reads and authenticates card data written on an IC card by any of the plurality of data terminal devices. A management center generates a signature key and a verification key that are unique to each of the plurality of data terminal devices according to a digital signature scheme with a public-key cryptosystem and sends generated signature keys respectively to the plurality of data terminal devices. A data writing terminal device generates digital signature data for plaintext data using a signature key sent from the management center and writes the digital signature data on the IC card. A data reading terminal device reads the digital signature data from the IC card and authenticates the card data using the read digital signature data and a verification key corresponding to the signature key used by the data writing terminal device. <IMAGE>
