PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device where the occurrence frequency of the scratch, the defective passing and the breaking of the top end part of the photosensitive material is reduced and a photosensitive material does not slip at a roller part even in the case that the photosensitive material having a specially short length is developed by making the path length of a processing solution immersing part and the carrying speed of the processing solution immersing part satisfy a specified condition. SOLUTION: The processing solution is held in a space formed by the rack 11 and the tank 12 of a processing part. A silver halide photographic sensitive material 1 held by a cartridge 2 is carried without using a short leader, and is introduced to a color development treating tank CD from a sensitive material inserting part 7, and is carried by a carrying roller 3 and an opposed roller 4. The photosensitive material 1 is guided to a bleaching treating tank BL by an out-of-liquid turning part 6 after being carried in a specified direction. When the path length of the processing solution immersing part of the treating tank where the photosensitive material 1 is firstly processed is set to be as L1 mm, and the carrying speed of the processing solution immersing part is set to be as S mm/min at this device, they are adjusted to be within the range of 0.5×S<=L1 <=2.5×S.
