发明名称 FORMING METHOD OF LIQUID CRYSTAL ORIENTATION FILM
摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form regions of different orientation directions in one substrate by forming a UV-curing reins film having groups which are crosslinked by irradiation of light on a substrate, irradiating the film with polarized UV rays in an oblique direction to the film surface so as to selectively crosslink the polymer molecules which constitute the film. SOLUTION: A UV-curing resin film 2 having groups which are crosslinked by irradiation of light is formed on a substrate 1. Then the film 2 is irradiated with polarized UV rays 4 in an oblique direction to the film surface. By irradiation of UV rays 4 in the oblique direction, polymer molecules 3 having a specified tilt angle to the thickness direction of the film 2 are crosslinked to produce a crosslinked part, and the coating film 2 is hardened to fix the crosslinked part to form a liquid crystal orientation film. As for the substrate 1, for example, a glass substrate can be used. Thereby, liquid crystalline molecules filling the element interact with the crosslinked part of the polymer molecules in the orientation film, so that the angle between the major axis of the liquid crystalline molecule and the substrate surface can be controlled.
