PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change in a completely and mutually opposite manner against the phase condition of output components by generating the changes in waveguides so that the change in an optical path length generated in one waveguide is made smaller than the change in the optical path length in the other waveguide. SOLUTION: The device is constituted of a device 20 which generates a changeΔ(nL) of an optical path length nL of waveguides 11 and the change (ΔnL) generated in the optical path length nL is increased from one waveguide 11 to the other waveguide 11 in a direction (r), and also constituted of a device 20' which generates a changeΔ(nL) of an optical path length nL of the waveguides 11 and the changeΔ(nL) of the optical path length nL is decreased from one waveguide 11 to the other waveguide 11 in the direction (r). The optical path length nL of each waveguide 11 is given by the product of an effective refractive index (n) of the waveguides 11 and a geometrical length L of the waveguides 11. The waveguides 11 are selected so that they have mutually same and effective refractive index U(n), for example. |
