PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable easy and inexpensive production even if a special device is not used. SOLUTION: At the time of producing the polarized light separating element 1, a polydiacetylene deriv. film 11 is formed on the surface 101 of a glass substrate 10 as an optically isotropic substrate and the polydiacetylene deriv. film 11 is selectively irradiated with UV rays, by which periodic structures of two kinds of hues are formed and ruggedness is formed and periodic gratings 12 having partial polarizability are produced. If the polarized light separating element 1 having such partial polarizability is used, part of return light always reaches a photodetector even when an optical disk has double refraction and, therefore, the regeneration of information may be executed without hindrance. |
