<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a weld zone having excellent joint characteristics by covering the parts to be welded of workpieces by a solution, filling inert gas into this solution and irradiating the parts to be welded with a laser beam. SOLUTION: The workpieces and an air tube 10 are placed on a work table 1. The solution 2 is placed on the work table 1 so as to cover the one end of the air tube 10 and the workpieces. The insert gas is fed into the solution 2 via the air tube 10 to fill the interior of the solution 2 with the inert gas. The laser beam emitted from a laser welding torch 4 fixed to the solution 2 is cast to the weld zone of the workpieces in the solution 2 to weld the workpieces. The solution 2 is provided with an introducing section for introducing the inert gas and a discharge section for discharge and the welding is preferably executed while the feeding and discharging of the inert gas are carried out. The molten part of the weld zone is covered with the inert gas and is made hardly oxidizable at the time of welding, by which the improved joint strength and the stability of connection resistance, etc., are obtd.</p> |
