<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable control with high accuracy over the entire length of a coil by changing the cross angle with the fluctuation of the edge drop of the material to be rolled under rolling, thereby controlling the edge drop. SOLUTION: Work rolls 12, 14 tapered at the one-side ends of the rolls are used and are provided with mechanisms for shifting and crossing both rolls. The shift positions of the upper and lower work rolls 12, 14 of a first stand 21 are calculated and set in such a manner that the edge drop target may be obtd. in accordance with rolling conditions by a shift controller 42. The start point parts of the tapers of the work rolls 12, 14 are so shifted as to attain the prescribed positions in the part inner than the end of the plate of the material 10 to be rolled. The cross angle is changed by the cross controller 40 with respect to the fluctuation of the edge drop of the material 10 to be rolled under rolling, by which the edge drop is controlled. The operation range of the cross angle is, thereupon, previously determined and when the cross angle attains the upper and lower limits, the shift quantity is changed.</p> |
