PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smaller and thinner electronic watch with its power consumption reduced. SOLUTION: An electronic watch includes a mounting detection circuit 3 and a display control circuit 4 in addition to a basic portion of the watch consisting of a timer circuit 1 and a display 2 to display time data generated by the timer circuit 1, the mounting detection circuit 3 detecting whether the watch is mounted on a wrist to perform usual time display when the watch is mounted on the wrist and the display control circuit 4 controlling the display 2 to reduce power consumption when it is not mounted.
