PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst for reducing nitrogen oxides(NOx) in exhaust gas, and to provide a method for reducing NOx using this catalyst. CONSTITUTION: A catalyst for reducing NOx contains at least a crystalline metallosilicate in which at least one metal selected from Mn, Co, Ni, Ag, and In is ion-exchanged and has specified pares. Since the catalyst uses a metal of low hydrocarbon oxidation activity, high selectivity for reducing NOx is obtained. Moreover, since the catalyst is constituted from specified pores, and metal ions (active points) existing in the depth of the pores can be used effectively, high NOx reduction activity can be obtained even at low temperatures. |
