OPTICAL FIBER COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct nonlinearity of a signal sent through an optical fiber in response to a change in a transmission condition and a change in an optical path. SOLUTION: This system 100 uses a signal bed back from a receiver 104 to generate a spectrum profile of an incident pulse matching it so as to minimize distortion of a received pulse. Since feedback control is used to make adaptive to a change in a transmission condition in a fiber path. In the case that a pulse train is sent and looped back via a network, adaptive processing is conducted for a training session of a data frame. After the training is finished, a loop back path is interrupted and pre-distortion is applied to the sent pulse and data transmission starts.
