摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a vehicle to improve fuel consumption of an internal combustion engine by a method wherein a frequency to bring an air-fuel ratio of an internal combustion into a rich state to reduce nitrogen oxide in exhaust gas absorbed in a nitrogen oxide absorbing material during lean operation of the internal combustion engine is decreased as much as possible. SOLUTION: A vehicle comprises a motor 2 to generate an auxiliary output to support the output of an engine 1 being a main propulsion source for a vehicle; and an NOx absorbent 6 to absorb NOx in exhaust gas from the engine 1. A timing at which during lean operation of the engine 1, the air-fuel ratio of the engine 1 is temporarily rendered rich according to an auxiliary output generated by the motor 2 and treatment to reduce NOx of the NOx absorbent 6 is started is controlled according to an auxiliary output generated by the motor 2.
