PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the mobile radio terminal such as a selective calling receiver by which information is detected even when prescribed information such as a free word start code is missing and numerals in a prescribed digit number successive thereafter are recognized as character information. SOLUTION: The mobile radio terminal that recognizes numerals in a prescribed digit number successive to prescribed information as character information, for example, the mobile radio terminal that expands a numeral code in succession to a free word start code (*2*2) into a free word character is provided with a means that detects missing of the free word start code, that is, a step where characters '2', '-' (code 2*2) (step S23). Thus, even when a sender transmits the code, forgetting a code '*' required for tone signal switching, the free word is correctly expanded. |
