Device which can be used on cans provided with a stamped lid 3 and with a lever 5 for opening the can, which comprises a ring 6, a tab 8 articulated to the ring by a hinge 9, and a projection 10. The lever 5 is secured to the upper end wall 2 of the can 1 by means of a rivet 12 on which it is able to rotate. It comprises a cover 13 of flexible, elastic material, formed by two inseparable parts: the actual cover and means for fixing the cover 13 to the opening lever 5. The device is placed in the closed position by turning the opening lever through 180 degrees on the securing rivet, from the position in which the can is open, in which the ring is in the position opposite the opening. <IMAGE>
